SJVN Shares Edge Higher; Synchronizes First Unit of Buxar Thermal Power Project

SJVN is currently trading at RS 97.90, up by 0.55 points or 0.56% from its previous closing of RS 97.35 on the BSE.

The stock opened at RS 97.85 and recorded a high of RS 98.87 and a low of RS 97.35. So far, 3,80,638 shares have been traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock with a face value of RS 10 touched a 52-week high of RS 140.00 on September 2, 2024, and a 52-week low of RS 80.50 on March 3, 2025. In the past week, the scrip’s high and low stood at RS 99.71 and RS 91.84, respectively. The current market capitalization of the company is RS 38,551.29 crore.

The shareholding pattern shows promoters holding 81.85%, while institutions and non-institutions hold 6.63% and 11.53% respectively.

In a major development, SJVN has synchronized the first unit (660 MW) of its 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project with the National Grid, marking the beginning of the COD process.

The Buxar Thermal Power Project (2x660 MW), located at Chausa, District Buxar, Bihar, has been implemented by SJVN Thermal, a wholly-owned subsidiary. Built with advanced supercritical technology, the project ensures higher efficiency and reduced environmental impact. With an investment of RS 13,756.56 crore, it will generate 9,828.72 million units of electricity annually, of which 85% will be supplied to Bihar.

This project is expected to bring significant economic and social benefits to Bihar and the Eastern region by improving power availability and reducing peak-hour shortages.

SJVN’s core business remains electricity generation, along with providing consultancy services.
