ONGC Shares Dip as Company Reports Decline in Q4 and Annual Profit

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is currently trading at RS. 246.00, down by 2.75 points or 1.11% from its previous close of RS. 248.75 on the BSE.

The stock opened at RS. 248.35 and recorded a high of RS. 250.50 and a low of RS. 244.10. A total of 12,05,148 shares have been traded so far.

A BSE group 'A' stock with a face value of RS. 5, ONGC had touched a 52-week high of RS. 344.60 on August 1, 2024, and a 52-week low of RS. 205.00 on April 7, 2025. In the past week, the stock's high and low stood at RS. 252.75 and RS. 244.10, respectively. The company's current market capitalization is RS. 309097.46 crore.

The shareholding pattern shows 58.89% held by promoters, 37.36% by institutions, and 3.76% by non-institutions.

Financially, ONGC reported a 34.66% decline in standalone net profit at RS. 6448.28 crore for Q4FY25, compared to RS. 9869.37 crore in the same quarter last year. The total income also fell by 3.25% to RS. 37056.92 crore from RS. 38301.65 crore year-on-year.

On a consolidated basis, net profit for Q4FY25 dropped by 20.18% to RS. 8856.33 crore from RS. 11096.03 crore in the corresponding period last year. Total income declined slightly by 0.98% to RS. 173788.62 crore compared to RS. 175503.65 crore.

For the full financial year ended March 31, 2025, standalone net profit declined by 12.13% to RS. 35610.32 crore from RS. 40525.96 crore in FY24. Total income marginally decreased by 0.54% to RS. 148325.73 crore from RS. 149137.65 crore.

On a consolidated annual basis, the company posted a 30.66% drop in net profit to RS. 38328.59 crore, compared to RS. 55273.15 crore in the previous year. However, total income rose by 1.57% to RS. 675655.88 crore from RS. 665201.47 crore in FY24.
