Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Soars After MoU with Piaggio Vehicles

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility is currently trading at Rs. 1583.30, marking a rise of 80.20 points or 5.34% from its previous close of Rs. 1503.10 on the BSE.

The stock opened at Rs. 1533.25 and has recorded a high of Rs. 1594.00 and a low of Rs. 1515.55 during the day. A total of 58,210 shares have been traded so far.

This BSE 'A' group stock, with a face value of Rs. 1, has seen a 52-week high of Rs. 1774.90 on June 26, 2024, and a 52-week low of Rs. 599.00 on October 26, 2023. Over the past week, the stock's high and low stood at Rs. 1603.80 and Rs. 1460.00, respectively. The company's market cap is currently Rs. 28,775.25 crore.

Promoter holding in the company is at 32.86%, with Institutions and Non-Institutions holding 38.39% and 28.75% respectively.

Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Piaggio Vehicles, the Indian subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group.

Under this agreement, Amara Raja will collaborate with Piaggio Vehicles to develop and supply Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) cells and chargers for its Electric Vehicles. Additionally, they will develop cells and battery packs for future offerings to be produced at Amara Raja’s Gigafactory in Divitipally, Telangana.

Since 2020, Amara Raja and Piaggio Vehicles have worked together to transform the transportation sector. Amara Raja has produced and supplied 50,000 NMC Li-ion battery packs and EV chargers exclusively to Piaggio Vehicles, which have collectively covered over 120 crore kilometers.

Recently, Amara Raja signed an agreement with Gotion-InoBat-Batteries (GIB) to localize global LFP technology for Indian conditions. The company also has a deal with Jiangsu Highstar Battery Manufacturing Co. for NMC technology.

Amara Raja aims to be a leading manufacturer of Li-ion and advanced chemistry cells in India, with a planned investment of Rs. 9,500 crore to build a 16GWh capacity gigafactory in Telangana. The company is also setting up an advanced research and innovation center, ‘ePositive Energy Labs,’ in Hyderabad.

Piaggio Vehicles is a leader in the Electric 3-wheeler market and has launched India's first battery subscription model to make electric vehicles more affordable for customers.
